Post Luxembourg wins the Mobile Network Test Luxembourg by connect and umlaut

For the first time, connect and umlaut have examined the performance of the mobile networks in Luxembourg – the results are very good.

Munich, November 22, 2022. connect, the international telecommunication test magazine for consumers, in cooperation with infrastructure and benchmarking specialist umlaut, part of Accenture, have analysed the mobile network performance in Luxembourg for the first time. Applying umlaut“s sophisticated crowdsourcing approach, the umlaut connect Mobile Network Test Luxembourg 2022 provides a comprehensive insight into the mobile customers“ user experience. The results reflect a high level of performance – with Post Luxembourg achieving the grade „outstanding“, while Tango and Orange Luxembourg both rank „very good“.

Hannes Ruegheimer, editor at connect magazine, concludes: „Our first look at the performance of the mobile networks in Luxembourg provides compelling results. The clear winner of our assessment is the former incumbent Post Luxembourg, but their smaller competitors deliver very good results as well. We are looking forward to continue monitoring the further development in this interesting market in the future.“

Post Luxembourg was named „Best in Test“, scoring 963 out of 1,000 points possible and the overall grade „outstanding“. Luxembourg“s biggest operator wins thanks to its lead in the categories Broadband Coverage and Latency. However, in terms of Download Speeds, the winner is only one point ahead of Tango and two points ahead of Orange. Tango ranks second with 941 points and the overall grade „very good“ with strong results in the categories Download Speeds and Voice. Orange Luxembourg ranks third with 926 points and the overall grade „very good“. Scoring six points behind Post Luxembourg, the operator is the second strongest contender in the Broadband Coverage category. In terms of Download Speeds, Orange is just two points behind the overall winner; in the Voice category, it scores on a par with Tango. What the assessment reveals in particular: room for improvement in the Latency category.

The sophisticated crowdsourcing methodology determines the quality and performance of the mobile connections users actually experience. For the assessment of Luxembourg“s mobile operators, umlaut has conducted a crowd-sourced analyses based on data gathered between early May and mid-October 2022. Over 24 weeks, 8,851,885 samples in total were considered in the analyses. This represents 99.7 per cent of the built-up area of Luxembourg and 99,9 per cent of the population.

The Mobile Network Tests by connect and umlaut are an independent evaluation combining umlaut’s expertise in measuring network performance with connect’s long-standing editorial experience and knowledge in testing telecommunications products and services. It provides a fair, transparent and neutral assessment and comparison of the networks‘ capabilities to customers as well as to management and supervisory boards of operators.
